Western Libraries and the Affiliated University College Libraries (Brescia, Huron, King’s) and St. Peter’s Seminary send library notifications to you. Email notification is the primary communication method. You may also opt in to receive SMS text alerts.
Notices
Current students, faculty, and staff of Western and the Affiliated University College Libraries receive library notices via their Western Identity email account. Other users (Alumni, Guest Borrowers and Direct Borrowers) are advised to add an email address to their library record to enable receipt of library notices.
A list of the various library notices can be found here.
SMS Text Alerts
You have the option to receive library alerts by text message on your cell phone in addition to library notices sent to your email account. To receive SMS text alerts:
- Western students, faculty and staff can submit an online form
- Alumni, Guest Borrowers and Direct Borrowers can print out then complete the form and submit to staff at any Service Desk
After you submit the form the SMS text alert service will begin on the following weekday.
If you change your cell phone number it is your responsibility to update your new number with Western Libraries. To submit a new cell phone number, please re-submit the form.
NOTE: Western Libraries sends some text alerts early each day. You have an option to receive text alerts at either 6:00 am or 9:00 am.
At any time you can choose to opt out of this service by contacting staff at any library Service Desk.
Take control of your library account-- check your email/SMS text alerts regularly to avoid fines. The non-receipt of library notices/SMS text alerts does not relieve you from any fines or fees that may be levied.
