Requesting Materials From Western and Affiliated University College Libraries

An intercampus service is available to request regular loan materials from any of the Western Libraries, storage facilities or Affiliated University College libraries (Brescia, Huron, King's) and St. Peter's Seminary. Items with a status of "IN LIBRARY" or "STORAGE- Use 'Request Item'" may be requested through the Shared Library Catalogue by clicking on the Request Item button button. Short loan, non-circulating or reserve items must be obtained from their home library.

Current Western or Affiliated University College faculty, students, and staff with a Western Identity account may place requests through the Shared Library Catalogue.

Alumni, Guest Borrowers and Direct Borrowers must contact staff to request items.

To Place a request:

  • Locate the item record in the Shared Library Catalogue
  • Click the Request Iten button button
  • Login to My Library Account
  • Choose a pickup location from the drop down menu
  • Select the specific item you need
  • Click the request selected Item barbutton
  • You will see a confirmation message if the request was successful.

Requested items will be available within three weekdays at the service desk of the selected pick up location. If an item is not available, you will be notified.

A "hold pickup" notice/SMS text alert will be sent to you when the item is available. Requested materials will be held for four days only. Items not picked up within this time will be returned to the item's home library, or forwarded to the next patron in the hold queue.
