Individuals who wish to obtain off-campus access to the Library resources must be using a UWO Proxy .
In order to use this proxy you must have a USERNAME and PASSWORD. This is a UWO specific password NOT an IVEY password. We know that having a number of passwords is a nuisance; however, the licencing agreements between the publishers and Western Libraries stipulate that only valid UWO patrons be given access to these highly valuable resources. It is by requiring validation via a specific username and password that Western libraries can control access and honour their agreements. Your class manager will have your username and password so please check with this individual to obtain your username and password.
Although the staff at the Business Library is always willing to be of personal assistance to you , we may not always be available when you need us. Therefore we have prepared this step by step guide to make you better able to help yourself. Your UWO username and password have already been activated on your behalf; therefore follow these easy steps to gain access to our resources whenever you need them.

Have your UWO username and password on hand.
1) You now are in a postion to access the Databases and Full-Text resources using the EZProxy method. It is necessary (because of licensing agreements) to have off-campus patrons verify their UWO affiliation via the use of authentication (your new USERID and PASSWORD) to log on via a proxy server. Please do not go through EZONE or use bookmarked pages. You will be dropped off the proxy server and lose access.
2) Go to the main Western Library page - http://www.lib.uwo.ca - Click on Off-campus Access - fill in your username and password and LOGIN. You will then be placed at the main Western Library home page. Click on Libraries - Business Library.
Look at the left bar for Database Guides and Access
For journal article searching choose ProQuest, Factiva etc in Section A
For country reports choose EIU, ISI Emerging Markets, Political Risk etc in Section C
For company information choose Mergent, Thomson One Banker etc. in Section B
For market/analyst reports choose Thomson One Banker, Standard and Poors in Section B and MarketResearch.com and Market Studies etc in Section E
If, after having set up the proxy server, you are still having problems, please review this Troubleshooting Guide. Finally, if there is still no resolution to your problem please feel free to contact us and we will be more than willing to offer assistance.

3) The University of Western Ontario has also provided a yourname@uwo.ca e-mail address. Any communication coming from the library or UWO will be transmitted via this e-mail address. If you wish to forward this mail to an address which you use most frequently please follow this one step process (you will need your new USERID and PASSWORD)
