Physiography of Southern Ontario

"Physiography of Southern Ontario" by L.J. Chapman and D.F. Putnam was first printed in 1951 and was republished and updated in 1966 and 1984. This historical publication has only been available as hardcopy colour maps and an associated hard cover book. "Physiography of Southern Ontario" has for many years been of value to engineers, scientists, students, teachers and the public interested in the physical structure of the southern portion of the province. The "Physiography of Southern Ontario" map remains an important, highly used publication which complements the 1:50 000 scale surficial mapping that covers most of southern Ontario. The Ontario Geological Survey, Sedimentary Geoscience Section, has captured the physiographic information in an attributed GIS-based map.  The map data set consists of 4 coverages capturing information on the physical structure of southern Ontario; linear features, such as beaches and escarpments; point features, such as dunes and mud flow scars; as well as landforms (drumlins and moraines) and physiographic regions.
