OPERA RECORDINGS

The UWO Music Library has an excellent collection of opera recordings in both record (LPs) and CD formats. On-site visitors can use these materials within the Music Library: students, faculty and staff are eligible to borrow circulating CDs for a minimum of one day. (CDs on 2-hour reserve do NOT circulate outside the library.)

Hints for locating recordings (and their call numbers) can be found at Finding CDs, LPs and Videos...

OPERA SCORES

In addition to a fine collection of opera recordings, the UWO Music Library holds an impressive collection of opera scores (full scores and piano-vocal scores), organized by the Library of Congress Classification System:

M 1500 -- Full score of operas
M 1503 -- Piano-vocal scores of operas
M 1505 --
Opera excerpts (full scores)
M 1507-8 -
Opera excerpts (piano-vocal scores)

In addition, The Opera Collection (housed in the Gustav Mahler - Alfred Rosé Room of the Music Library, Western Libraries) is a major research source of approximately 2,000 volumes of rare manuscripts and first editions of opera, dating from the seventeenth to early twentieth centuries. Use a KEYWORD search on the Western Libraries Catalogue to find opera scores and recordings.
