Wikipedia is shutting down its English language site for 24 hours on Wednesday, January 18, to protest SOPA, the "Stop Online Piracy Act". Wikipedia will be unavailable on Wednesday, and many other sites will have banners or graphics protesting the bill. Western Libraries' website, and all of the databases, ejournals, and ebooks that we subscribe to will continue to be available January 18th.
If you want to know more about this legislation, the Electronic Frontier Foundation has published an article explaining how SOPA affects students, educators, and libraries.
