This policy pertains to:
- promotional displays
- posters on bulletin boards
- information booths
- announcements on the Western Libraries’ web site
Western Libraries will consider requests for promotional displays from campus groups if the request relates to:
- USC elections (annual)
- an exceptional need such as the irregular student surveys held by USC (usually several years between surveys)
- teaching Award Nominations by USC and SOGS
- collaborative initiatives with academic or administrative units such as the Teaching Support Centre or the Students Success Centre
- western’s academic programs
- libraries and Information Resources and Services in general
Western Libraries will have the discretion to make decisions about such requests on a case-by-case basis and will consider issues such as the physical limitations of the location and the timing/scheduling of Western Libraries’ own promotional initiatives. If a request is approved, staff of Western Libraries will not be required to actively distribute materials. Requests from external groups may be considered, only in exceptional circumstances, on a case-by-case basis.
