  • Anthropology Plus brings together into one resource the highly respected Anthropological Literature from Harvard University and Anthropological Index, Royal Anthropological Institute from the UK. Anthropology Plus provides  indexing of journal articles, reports, commentaries, edited works, and obituaries in the fields of social, cultural, physical, biological, and linguistic anthropology, ethnology, archaeology, folklore, material culture, and interdisciplinary studies.
  • This database features the current issues for 11 of the American Anthropological Association's most critical peer-reviewed publications including American Anthropologist, American Ethnologist, Anthropology and Education Quarterly, Anthropology and Humanism, Archaeological Publications of the American Anthropological Association, Cultural Anthropology, Ethos, Journal of Linguistic Anthropology, Medical Anthropology Quarterly, NAPA Bulletin and PoLAR: The Political and Legal Anthropology Review.
  • Covers the history and culture of the United States and Canada from prehistoric times to the present. It provides citations and abstracts to articles, books, and dissertations. From 1989 forward it also includes citations to reviews of films, videos, and non-print media.
  • Scopus provides broad coverage to literature in the sciences and social sciences. Users have access to journal articles, conference proceedings, trade publications, book series, and web sources.

  • Social Sciences Citation Index is part of the multidisciplinary database, Web of Science. It contains searchable author abstracts from journals across a broad range of disciplines in the social sciences. This database also covers individually selected, relevant items from the world's leading natural and physical science journals.
  • Searches ProQuest Dissertations and Theses — Full text  and ProQuest Dissertations & Theses UK and Ireland, and Dissertations and Theses at University of Western Ontario.

    ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Full Text is the world's most comprehensive database of dissertations and theses published in North America and provides full-text access to most of the disseratations added since 1997 and strong retrospective coverage for older graduate works.

    ProQuest Dissertations & Theses UK and Ireland provides access to abstracts of disseratations published in the UK and Ireland.

  • Google Scholar provides access to the scholarly literature in many disciplines, however, because it draws its information from unknown sources, it can miss alot of important publications and retreive alot of irrelevant and redundant material. It's best to use Google Scholar as a starting point and in addition to other library research databases.
  • The Ontario Archaeology Theses Database is a a comprehenisve index of theses and dissertations on Ontario Archaeology compiled by the Ontario Archaeological Society.
  • The eHRAF Collection of Archaeology is a cross-cultural database that currently contains information on the world's prehistory. This unique database is organized by archaeological traditions and the full-text sources are all subject-indexed to the paragraph level. The eHRAF databases are produced by Human Relations Area Files, Inc. (HRAF) at Yale University. The mission of HRAF, a non-profit consortium of universities and colleges, is to encourage and facilitate worldwide and other comparative studies of human behavior, society, and culture.It is a unique resource designed to facilitate comparative archaeological studies.

  • Is the online version of the American Geological Institute's geoscience database containing North American records since 1785, and other areas of the world since 1933. The database is the equivalent of four major reference publications: Bibliography of North Amercian Geology, Bibliography and Index of Geology Exclusive of North America, Geophysical Abstracts, and the Bibliography and Index of Geology. This resource also indexes many publications dedicated to the science of archaeology.

  • Provides access to full-text, full-image, scholarly literature. The growing database contains the archives of major research journals in a variety of academic disciplines. JSTOR offers the scanned image of each journal page as it was originally designed, printed, and illustrated. Coverage for each journal starts with the very first issue, many of which date from the 1800's.

Government Information

  • The mandate of the Archaeological Survey of Canada is to conduct research on the archaeology of the Native peoples or First Nations of Canada - from the earliest beginnings to the period of European settlement. It extends, to a lesser degree, to the archaeology of the European settlement itself. They record and collect archaeological specimens through excavations or "digs", most often at sites within Canada.

  • The Museum of Ontario Archaeology is a unique Canadian museum devoted to the study, display, and interpretation of the human occupation of Southwestern Ontario over the past 11,000 years.
  • The Ontario Archaeological Society is a registered charitable organization that promotes the ethical practice of archaeology. The general public, students and professional alike are encouraged to become members of the Society and to support its co-ordinating role in helping to record and preserve our non-renewable cultural heritage.
