  • PubMed includes MEDLINE, PREMEDLINE and unique citations from the following now defunct IGM databases : AIDSLINE, BIOETHICSLINE, HISTLINE, and HealthSTAR. Produced by the National Library of Medicine, PubMed is an international bibliographic database covering the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system and the preclinical sciences.
  • BIOSIS Previews is a comprehensive index of life sciences and biomedical research worldwide including: journals, meetings, patents, and books. Biological Abstracts and Biological Abstracts/RRM (reports, reviews & meetings) comprise BIOSIS Previews.
  • Web of Science provides access to three multidisciplinary databases of bibliographic information indexed so that you can search for specific articles by subject, author, journal, and/or author address. Each Web of Science database includes the article's cited reference list (often called its bibliography). This unique feature allows searching for articles that cite a known author or work.
  • Scopus is an abstracts database covering articles from peer-reviewed titles, including international publishers. Subject coverage includes: Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Engineering; Life and Health Sciences; Social Sciences, Psychology and Economics; Biological, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences; and General Sciences.
  • The Excerpta Medica database (EMBASE) produced by Elsevier Science, is a major biomedical and pharmaceutical database covering the following fields: drug research, pharmacology, pharmaceutics, toxicology, clinical and experimental human medicine, health policy and management, public health, occupational health, environmental health, drug dependence and abuse, psychiatry, forensic medicine, and biomedical engineering/instrumentation. Web Sites

  • Provides access to the digitized version of the Roche Applied Science 'Biochemical Pathways' wall chart; keyword search produces list of matching entrys with links to all maps of 'Biochemical Pathways'in which the entry appears.
  • Critical for all students in the Basic Medical Sciences, this site provides access to many free biological sequence databases and software programs allowing users to access, manipulate and comprehend the massive amounts of information about molecular sequences, structures and functions. Includes links to free DNA & protein analysis tools, sequence analysis tools, a variety of databases structures, gene mapping and sequences, as well as databases which include information on proteins, genomes and taxonomy. Developed by the Univ. of Washington, this site links out to many other molecular biology and genetics links.
  • Entrez allows you to retrieve molecular biology data and bibliographic citations from the National Center for Biotechnology Information's integrated databases including: GenBank, OMIM: Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man, PubMed and others.
  • A multimedia database resource that is currently under development. It provides linkage mapping information and software tools that facilitate the integration of physical and genetic linkage data to produce unified maps of the human genome.
  • Scirus (the scientific search engine) enables scientists and students to comprehensively search the web for science-specific information. The Scirus search engine charts and pinpoints data, locates university sites and finds reports and articles quickly and easily. A unique feature of this search engine is the suggested list of terms that appear most frequently in your search results which can be use in search refinement.
