EI Compendex

EI Compendex is one of the most comprehensive engineering literature databases.

It contains over ten million references and abstracts taken from over 6,000 scholarly journals, trade magazines, conference proceedings and technical reports. Online coverage is from 1884 to the present. Approximately 650,000 new records are added to the database annually from over 190 disciplines and major specialties within engineering. It is updated weekly.

You can create your Personal Account in Compendex to save searches, save records, or create Email Alerts. If you use RefWorks to manage citations, please refer to the instruction for importing references from Compendex into RefWorks.
ASCE Civil Engineering Database

The ASCE Research Library is a comprehensive online tool for locating articles of interest across all disciplines of civil engineering. The Research Library provides you with unprecedented access to more than 73,000 full-text papers from ASCE Journals and Proceedings published. Approximately 4,000 new papers will be added each year. A Research Library subscription is not required to use the search and browse features or to view tables of contents and abstracts. Downloading full-text digital papers is available only to Research Library or online journal subscribers. Check our library catalogue to see whether or not we have access to the full-text materials.
Earthquake Engineering Abstracts

This article database indexes the major publications related to earthquake engineering and earthquake hazard mitigation.
Geobase

Geobase covers the scholarly literature in earth science, ecology, geography, and marine science. You can search it simultaneously with EI Compendex.
ProQuest Dissertations and Theses

Use this database to find dissertations or theses, many of which are available as full-text pdf downloads.

Access Science: McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science & Technology Online

A good online encyclopedia to use as a starting point for gathering information on a topic.
Water Encyclopedia

This five-volume set covers water supply, waste disposal, water quality and resource development, ground water, and more. It is available in TAY reference at TD345.W2623 2005.
Encyclopedia of environmental analysis and remediation

Available in TAY reference at TD173.E53 1998.

ENGnetBASE

This is a collection of full-text, searchable engineering handbooks, including the Bridge Engineering Handbook, Handbook of Groundwater Engineering and Civil Engineering Handbook. Topics cover a wide range of engineering disciplines. ENGnetBASE is a good starting point for gathering information on a topic.
ENVIROnetBASE

This is a collection of full-text, searchable books on a wide range of environmental science topics.

Standards

Canadian Standards Association CSA

Taylor Library has a complete collection of CSA standards in the Reference collection on the Main floor of the Library, at TA368.N383. This collection includes the Canadian Electrical Code, the Highway Bridge Design Code, and a small number of ISO and IEC standards (those that have been adopted as "Canadian" standards).

We also have a one-year trial for the CSA Standards database starting from March 2011. Please let us know your experience using the online version CSA standards, which will help us evaluate this resource.
ACI Manual of Concrete Practice

The ACI Manual of Concrete Practice is a six-part compilation of current ACI standards and committee reports. The 2008 manual is available in TAY stack at TA681.A53.
American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Standards

ASTM publishes standard test methods, specifications, practices, guides, classifications adn terminology. We have the complete ASTM active standards online, and some older print editions in the RDL or ARCC
National Building Code of Canada

Published by the National Research Council, Associate Committee on the National Building Code. The most recent edition is available in TAY reference at TH226.N37.
Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code

Published by the Canadian Standards Association. The most recent edition is in TAY reference at TA368.N383 S6-2006 (during term, it may be on reserve at TAY desk for 2 hour loan -- check the catalogue for the most up-to-date location). The Commentary on CAN/CSA-S6-2006, Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code, is also available in TAY reference at TA368.N383 S6.1-2006
