Top 20 Life Insurance Companies in Canada c1982

This list is provided for those who are interested in the historical development of Canada's commercial sector.  Apart from providing an historical snapshot our purpose is to indicate where such data can be found. In this case the information is from: The Canadian Journal of Life Insurance, Vol.6, No.31, March 1984, p.32. The table below was one of many in the issue and they were developed in "an attempt to remedy the continuing absence of published information indicating the comparative performance of companies doing business in Canada..." It presents the top 20 federally registered life insurance companies ranked by total assets (noted in the introduction is the fact that the very large Industrial Life Insurance Company of Sillery, Quebec is not included because it is provincially registered).
