Canada's 50 Fastest-Growing Companies c(1983)

Lists such as this one can be difficult to find and for that reason we are making it available to researchers who have an interest in the history of the Canadian commercial sector. The material below was taken from the article: "Canada's 50 Fastest Growing Companies," Canadian Business, Vol.57, No.7, July 1984, p.35. It is " a special report on the fastest-rising stars of Canadian capitalism, with profiles of four of the country's most interesting performers." The criteria for selection in this instance: the company had to have been incorporated before 1980; it had to be publicly listed as of the spring of 1984; it had to show a year-over-year growth in revenues and it must have grown by at least 100% over the three year measurement period (1980-83). We selected for display only three of the variables included in the table. The original also includes: sales, sales growth; net income; net income as % of sales; # of employees; acquisitions and year incorporated. Canadian Business is housed in the Business Library at the University of Western Ontario and may be consulted there and in other large research libraries in Canada.
