Databases

  • INSPEC is the best database for findlng published literature in Computer Science and Information Technology. It also covers Electrical and Computer Engineering and Physics.

  • Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers' journals and proceedings; covers optics, photonics, medical imaging, and many areas of nanotechnology, including MEMS. Provides access to 200,000 technical papers from SPIE Journals and Conference Proceedings from 1990 to the present. More than 17,000 new technical papers are added annually. The Proceedings of SPIE comprise nearly 6000 volumes from conferences sponsored or cosponsored by SPIE since 1963. The SPIE Digital Library includes Proceedings from 1990 to the present, beginning with Volume 1200, with more than 17,000 new technical papers added

  • MathSciNet, produced by the American Mathematical Society, is the primary database for finding articles in the disciplines of mathematics and theoretical computer science.

  • The ACM Digital Library is the online repository of all journal articles and conference papers published by the ACM, the primary society for computer science research.

  • IEEE and IEE journals and conference proceedings; all current IEEE standards

  • SpringerLink is the the world's most complete online collection of STM books, journals, and reference works. There are more than 10,000 ebook titles in the field of Computer Science. Journal articles and reference works in the field are also available in SpringerLink. 

  • The Computing Research Repository, part of arXiv.org, contains preprints, technical reports, and dissertations in all areas of computer science.

  • Although Google Scholar does not cover as much of the journal literature as INSPEC or MathSciNet, it is useful for finding preprints and other computer science documents that are available on the web but which have not been formally published.
