  • A client server tool for retrieving information from databases produced by Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS). CAS databases contain more than 14 million documents from more than 8000 journals. Documents include journals, patents, book reviews, meeting abstracts, dissertations, conference proceedings and technical reports. Subject coverage is broad in scope covering chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry, physiology, pharmacology, toxicology, biology and environmental topics. SciFinder Scholar can be used to search for any of over 20 million chemical substances including organic compounds, inorganic compounds, coordination compounds, stereoisomers etc. One may also use a powerful "substructure searching mode" that searches a structure as a substructure of more complex structures. Subject searching is achieved using a unique natural language search engine that presents the user with a choice of search results. Full text of original documents is available via the ChemPort Connection provided that UWO has paid for online access to the journal. Frequent users of this database who have a prescribed Internet connection may wish to download the client softwareFor more information on SciFinder Scholar, see SciFinder Scholar.
  • Covers information for the science, technology, and management of marine and freshwater environments. Citations also cover socio-economic and legal aspects of the aquatic sciences. • Provides access to three multidisciplinary databases of bibliographic information indexed so that you can search for specific articles by subject, author, journal, and/or author address. Each Web of Science database includes the article's cited reference list (often called its bibliography). This unique feature allows searching for articles that cite a known author or work. Tutorial
  • Zoological Record Plus provides extensive coverage of the world's zoological and animal science literature, covering all research from biochemistry to veterinary medicine. The database provides an easily searched collection of references from over 4,500 international serial publications, plus books, meetings, reviews and other non serial literature from over 100 countries. | ZR Plus Reference Card|
  • Is a bibliographic database of the global literature in earth science, ecology, geography and marine science. Broad subject coverage and the range of sources abstracted make this an ideal tool for searching multidisciplinary topics such as environmental or geographical studies and other areas that cross traditional subject boundaries.
  • Is the online version of the American Geological Institute's geoscience database containing over 1.9 million records of North America since 1785, and other areas of the world since 1933. The database is the equivalent of four major reference publications: Bibliography of North Amercian Geology, Bibliography and Index of Geology Exclusive of North America, Geophysical Abstracts, and the Bibliography and Index of Geology. Additional items come from special bibliographies produced on request for state surveys or societies, and annual subject and author indexes. Check for Holdings Activated
