Clinical Tools

  • DynaMed is an evidence-based, clinical reference tool created by physicians for physicians and other health care professionals for use primarily at the 'point-of-care.' DynaMed contains AHFS drug information, article references, medical calculators, patient information, and thousands of topics organized into clinical summaries. Content in DynaMed is updated daily.

  • The American College of Physicians' Physicians' Information and Education Resource offers a Web-based evidence-based clinical guidance designed for rapid access to clinical information at the point of care by physicians and other health care providers.
  • AccessMedicine is an innovative online resource that provides students, residents, clinicians, researchers, and all health professionals with access to more than 60 medical titles from the best minds in medicine, updated content, thousands of images and illustrations, interactive self-assessment, case files, diagnostic tools and a comprehensive search platform.
  • Essential Evidence Plus is a tool that makes it possible to search a number of medical information resources and decision support calculators simultaneously. The resources include the Cochrane database of systematic reviews, clinical practice guidelines, patient education handouts and summaries - called POEMs (Patient Oriented Evidence that Matters) - on various medical topics. Western libraries' subscription to this resource includes a free download of the PDA version.   • The TRIP Database is free unified search tool of evidence-based sites such as ACP Journal Club, Bandolier, Cochrane, DARE, Health Technology Assessment, and the National Guideline Clearing House. TRIP is produced by the Centre for Research Support in the UK.
  • Produced by the Canadian Pharmacists Association, the online Compendium of Pharmaceuticals and Specialties (e-CPS) provides health care professionals with web access to the most current Canadian drug information.
