  • This French language database features online journals in the Humanities, Social Sciences and Natural Sciences, originating primarily in Quebec.
  • Repère is an index to over 410,000 articles from the most widely read French-language periodicals distributed in Quebec. Of the 245 titles, 158 are from Quebec, 11 from Canada and 77 from Europe. Coverage includes French literature outside France, and extends from the Middle Ages to modern times. Literature is organized by time periods; subsections include genres and individual authors. Subject and author indexes are provided in each volume.

  • The Oxford DNB is an illustrated collection of 50,000 specially written biographies of the men and women who shaped all aspects of Britain's past, from the fourth century BC to the year 2000. It includes entries on remarkable people around the world who were connected with the British Isles (excluding living people); not just the great and good, but people who have left a mark for any reason, good, bad, or bizarre.

  • This research guide was created by The D. B. Weldon Library, Research & Instructional Services. It provides a sampling of biography resources  for literary persons, living or dead, male or female. This group of sources may also include dramatists, playwrights, poets, screenwriters, literary characters, publishers, etc.

Dictionaries

  • The Publisher describes the Great Corpus of dictionaries as, "the 24 most important dictionaries on French language, in total about 200 000 pages (2 500 signs per page), 900 000 entries and definitions. It is the greatest collection today available on the subject.  From the Dictionary of old french language and all its dialects from the 9th to the 15th century (1881-1902) by Frédéric Godefroy, that is “ the essential element ” of old French lexicography (Georges Matoré) to the Dictionary of the French Academy (1932-1935) devoted to modern language and characterised by an ever more reflexive and well-founded art of definition and by the intention to give a faithful reflection of the 20th century..."
