Looking for a foundation to fund your organization or project? Looking for other organizations that have received grants, or that make grants to organizations in your field? Looking for a specific individual foundation?
“The Canadian Directory to Foundations & Corporations is an online database containing updated information on over 3,200 Canadian grant-making foundations. Together these foundations award grants with a total value of over $1.5 billion. In addition, [it] includes over 150 American foundations with a history of granting in Canada, and over 200 corporate donations programs.”
CDFC is very straightforward, offering users five different searching options, which include Grantmakers, Recipients, Individuals, Full Text and Quick searches.

Searching CDFC
Search for Grantmakers
Search option to narrow down all the foundations to only find those that are most likely to fund your organization/project.
Other search options include:

- Granting region (country, province, city)
- Types of support (awards, scholarships, research, project, matching, etc.)
- Location of grantmaker (city, province, state)
- Application deadline
Search for Grant Recipients
A search option to find other organizations like yours that have received grants recently, or one that has made grants to organizations in your field.
Other search options include:
- Subject terms (arts and culture, education, environment, health, religious org.)
- Location of grant recipient (city, province, state)
Search for Individuals
A search option to find a particular individual in a foundation.
Quick Search
A search option to find all the foundations in the Directory, all foundations of a certain type, or a chart of the top foundations by assets or grants.
