U.S. College and University Information

The purpose of this brief guide is to point you to some of the reference books and web sites that relate to higher education in North America. It is intended for those who want to know more about American universities and for graduate students who are interested in academic careers. We have included some older works for those who want to take a longer view.
We suggest here two very good sources that follow academic trends and issues. The Chronicle of Higher Education is the most popular and substantial journal in the field. Apart from providing job listings and career information, it covers most aspects of university life. Another good source is Inside Higher Ed which offers “news, views and careers for All of Higher Education” ( insidehighered.com). In terms of quality of life issues we suggest College Town Life.

The list below is divided into 3 categories. We begin with Undergraduate schools, continue with Graduate ones and conclude with Business Schools. For more information about business schools see our related guide on Management Education
