Biography - Gibson Burrell

Gibson Burrell is a Professor of Organization Theory and the Head of the Management Centre at the University of Leicester. He was a professor at the University of Essex, but returned to his alma mater to head the Management Centre. It is his goal to hire 16 to 20 academics and he has stated that he would prefer it if the U.K. would end "the desire to mimic what is fashionable across the Atlantic". Professor Burrell's web site can be found here: http://www2.le.ac.uk/departments/management/people/gburrell.

His and Gareth Morgan's work on sociological paradigms of organizational analysis has been described as "seminal" and was recently re-appraised in "Rethinking Burell and Morgan and Their Legacy," by Nord & Connell in Talking About Organizational Science: Debates and Dialogue from Crossroads. For your convenience we provide below books and articles by Professor Burrell that can be located in the Western Libraries. For additional information about Gareth Morgan, see our guide.
