In the past few years, many Japanese words have entered the vocabulary of the typical North American manager. Even a casual reader of newspapers is likely to recognize kanban, kaizen, sogo sosha, or zaibatsu and the Business Library has books and articles dealing with all of these subjects.
Now a Korean word - CHAEBOL - is frequently encountered, referring to the major Korean conglomerates. Yoo and Lee define a chaebol as "a business group consisting of large companies which are owned and managed by family members or relatives in many diversified business areas".
