Stephenson named one of Canada's most powerful women : Richard Ivey School of Business Dean Carol Stephenson, along with many Ivey alumnae, has been honoured as recipients of the 2010 Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Awards. Each year through the awards, the Women’s Executive Network recognizes the country's highest achieving female leaders in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors.

[Visited Jun'09] Through the efforts of research assistants and professors at several US universities, the Woman Stats Project (WSP) seeks to examine the relationship between the circumstances of women and the stability of particular nations.

Variables are categorized under such areas as women's health, physical security, and legal security. Currently the database features 260 variables for 174 countries. The site's informative world maps offer researchers visual insights into the status of women worldwide.

Corus Entertainment has announced a $2 million donation to Ivey to fund the Corus Entertainment Chair in Women in Management. Heather Shaw, Executive Chair of Corus Entertainment (link) made the announcement at Ivey and introduced the first recipient of the Chair, Dr. Alison Konrad, who joins Ivey from Temple University on July 1. The Chair is designed to promote the development of innovative teaching materials, research and outreach programs. Also in attendance at the announcement were Diane Cunningham, Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities; Dean Larry Tapp; Western President Paul Davenport and many members of the Ivey community.

Update: 2002 Catalyst Canada Census

#4 The Globe and Mail article of March 13, 2003 indicates that "Women still find slow rise to power positions". According to the 2002 Catalyst Canada Census, women fill only 752 of the 5361 top corporate officer jobs in Canada (14% of the positions). #3 The U.S. General Accounting Office released a study at the end of January 2002 that generated headlines like this:
"Female Managers Lost Ground in Boom: Study," Diane E. Lewis, Globe and Mail, Feb.2, 2002,p.S7. The study was actually completed in October and the title is: Women in Management: Analysis of Selected Data From the Current Population Survey (GAO-02-156). #2 On January 31 it was reported that Women in Capital Markets released a new study that compares and contrasts the working environment for women and men on Bay Street and Wall Street (see "U.S. Female Brokers Said More Vocal," Elizabeth Church, Globe and Mail, B5, and "Bay Street 'Kinder, Gentler' to Women Than Wall Street," Kate MacNamara, Financial Post, p.3.
