Articles

  • EI Compendex is one of the most comprehensive engineering literature databases. It contains over ten million references and abstracts taken from over 5,600 scholarly journals, trade magazines, conference proceedings and technical reports. Online coverage is from 1969 to the present. Approximately 650,000 new records are added to the database annually from over 190 disciplines and major specialties within engineering. It is updated weekly.

You can create your Personal Account in Compendex to save searches, save records, or create Email Alerts. If you use RefWorks to manage citations, please refer to the instruction for importing references from Compendex into RefWorks.

  • Scopus covers articles from over 14,000 peer-reviewed titles, including international publishers. Subject coverage includes Life and Health Sciences; Social Sciences, Psychology and Economics; Biological, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences; and General Sciences.
  • Subjects covered include engineering, telecommunications, metallurgy, environmental science, chemistry, mathematics, computer technology and physics.
  • IEEE Xplore is the IEEE's electronic library. It holds all IEEE and IEE (Britain's Institution of Electrical Engineers) journals and conference proceedings published since 1988 as well as all current IEEE standards.
  • Produced by the National Library of Medicine, PubMed is an international bibliographic database of over 4500 biomedical journals. It covers the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system and the preclinical sciences.

Handbooks

  • ENGnetBASE is a collection of online handbooks in many engineering disciplines, including mechanics, manufacturing, HVAC, automotive engineering. You can search through the handbooks for your particular topic. ENGnetBASE is a good starting point for gathering information on a topic.
  • AccessEngineering features content from a broad range of McGraw-Hill engineering publications, including the latest editions of classics such as Marks' Standard Handbook for Mechanical Engineers, Perry's Chemical Engineers Handbook, Standard Handbook for Electrical Engineers, Roark's Formulas for Stress and Strain, and many more.
  • ASM Handbooks Online features the complete content of twenty-four ASM Handbook volumes plus the Engineered Materials Handbook and the Metals Handbook, Desk Edition.

Patents

  • This database provide global coverage of patents. The database is organized by patent family or equivalents and full text is available for most patents. A detailed description of the database is given here.
  • USPTO provides access to full text patents since 1976 as well as full page images since 1790, along with applications published since March 15, 2001. Full text files are in TIFF format and require a special plug-in for viewing.
  • This database provides you with access to over 75 years of patent descriptions and images.

Standards

  • Full online collection of standards from the American Society for Testing and Materials.

  • We have the complete current print version in the Taylor Reference collection at call number TA368.N383. We also have a one year trial for CSA Standards online, starting in March 2011. Please let us know your experience using the online version of CSA Standards. This will help us evaluate the resource.
