INSPEC is the primary database for finding articles in Electrical, Computer, and Software Engineering. The database indexes over 8000 journals and is one of the few sources for many computer science conferences.

IEEE Xplore is the online library for all journal and conference papers published by the IEEE. This site also includes all of the IEEE's standards, including the POSIX operating system interfaces.
Handbooks

ENGnetBASE is a collection of online handbooks in many engineering disciplines, including mechanics, manufacturing, HVAC, automotive engineering. You can search through the handbooks for your particular topic. ENGnetBASE is a good starting point for gathering information on a topic.

Safari Tech Books is a collection of computer handbooks for programmers and users that includes popular titles covering web development and common applications.

Springer is a prominent publisher of computer programming and software engineering manuals. They are best known for the APress "Novice to Professional" series of computer manuals.

This database provide global coverage of patents. The database is organized by patent family or equivalents and full text is available for most patents. This database provides you with access to over 75 years of Canadian patent descriptions and images.CIPO's Guide to Patents and FAQs provide an overview of the patent application process.

USPTO provides access to full text patents since 1976 as well as full page images since 1790, along with applications published since March 15, 2001. Full text files are in TIFF format and require a special plug-in for viewing.
Standards

CSA develops standards related ot electrical/electronic equipment, energy, environment, gas equipment, health care, mechanical industrial equipment, occupational health and safety as well as quality management.
We have the complete current print version in the Taylor Reference collection at call number TA368.N383. We also have a one year trial for CSA Standards online, starting in March 2011. Please let us know your experience using the online version of CSA Standards. This will help us evaluate the resource.

ASTM publishes standard test methods, specifications, practices, guides, classifications adn terminology. We have the complete ASTM active standards online, and some older print editions in the RDL or ARCC
