Advanced Searching Skills

This will cover advanced literature searching, including how to conduct a detailed search with a variety of search strategies and how to identify key research papers in your area.

By the end of the tutorial, you will be able to:

  • Use a variety of search strategies
  • Identify various publication types and their uses
  • Conduct cited reference searches using various sources
  • Find a journal’s impact factor using Journal Citation Reports
  • Use several factors to gauge an article’s relative importance and quality

Examples will be given in a variety of subject areas, to illustrate the principles and ideas presented.
