Introduction to RefWorks

Creating Bibliographies

How do you create a bibliography using RefWorks?

To create a bibliography:

1.  Click Create Bibliography

2.  Select Output Syle (there are over 400 to chose from including APA, Chicago, MLA, etc.)

3.  Choose a File Type (.txt, .rtf, .doc, etc.)

4.  Choose which references you would like to cite (All References, My List, References from a folder)

5.  Click Create Bibliography

Note: If you do not see the Output Style that you need, you can select the Output Style Manager button beneath the Output Style drop down menu (as shown in the image above).

Once you are in the Output Style Manager, use the green arrows to transfer styles to and from the List of Output Styles and your Favorites list. Be sure to double check to see if the style was successfully added or removed, if not, try again.

Important: Keep in mind that not all databases provide all the information you need in a bibliography. For example, ProQuest only supplies the starting page number of a paper. Always double check your citations to ensure they are accurate and complete!
