Literature Reviews for the Health Sciences

This will build on your searching skills with a concentration on health sciences resources.  Craft your search strategy in specialized databases and learn how best to refine and evaluate your results.

By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:

  • Understand the difference between keywords and subject headings
  • Create a concept map/table
  • Conduct the same search strategy in different health sciences databases
  • Understand the difference between subject databases: CINAHL, Scopus, MEDLINE, Embase, PsycINFO, Cochrane Library and ProQuest Dissertations
  • Gain knowledge of specialized databases (PEDro, IBIDS, Nutritional Abstracts and Reviews, SPORT Discus) where applicable to your area of study
  • Evaluate the quality and relevance of search results
  • Refine your search strategy
