Dr. John Martin Fraser

Dr. John Martin Fraser was born in 1886 near London, Ontario. He graduated from Queen's University with an M.D. in 1855 and subsequently completed postgraduate work in England and Ireland. He practiced for a year in London, England with his uncle, Dr. Maxwell Simpson Fraser before moving to London, Ontario in 1868.

Dr. Fraser attended the foundational meetings of the Faculty of Medicine and was appointed the first Professor of the Principles and Practice of Medicine. Taking a brief leave of absence in 1885 to accompany the 7th Fusiliers as a Surgeon-Major during the Riel Rebellion, Dr. Fraser returned to London and accepted the position of Dean of the Faculty of Medicine.

Dr. Fraser died in 1891.
