Dutch Decker has done it all at Western. As a student, Decker played both tennis and basketball, two sports he would later go on to coach. During his long career, Dutch was involved in volleyball, basketball, tennis, badminton, and curling. As well, Decker officiated in volleyball, tennis and basketball on an international level, including scoring and timing for basketball at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal. Aside from sports, Dutch was also heavily involved with the JP Metras Museum, serving as head of the W Club’s Metras Museum Committee. Decker retired from Western in 1988 and passed away the following year on March 27th. Throughout his career, Decker’s dedication and love of sport served as an inspiration to his students.
