While at Western, May Alizadeh (Allison) was seen as one of the most inspiring track and field members of the women's cross-country team.  She assisted in leading Western to a national title in 1983, 1984, and 1985, and in 1986 was named Western's Most Valuable Cross-Country Performer.  She also won the Don Wright Award for Track and Field.

Alizadeh graduated from Western with a degree in business and competed as a long-distance runner at the 1996 Olympic games in Atlanta, and in 1997 at the World Championships in Athens, Greece.
