The National Information Standards Organization in the U.S. will host the Webinar, Identify This! Identify That! New Identifiers and New Uses, on Jan. 11, 2012. Registration is now open.

The Office of Science and Technology Policy in the U.S. issued two Requests for Information (RFI) last month to solicit input on public access to digital data and peer-reviewed scholarly publications resulting from federally funded research. The submission deadline for the RFIs have been extended to Jan. 12, 2012.

Citizen Science Projects

Adler Planetarium and the Citizen Science Alliance have issued a call for proposals "by researchers who wish to develop citizen science projects which take advantage of the experience, tools and community of the Zooniverse." Submissions are accepted through Jan. 15, 2012.

The Center for Digital Learning + Research at Occidental College in Los Angeles invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship on digital scholarship. The application deadline is Jan. 15, 2012.

The University of Michigan Press and HASTAC (Humanities, Arts, Science, and Technology Advanced Collaboratory) have announced the UM Press/HASTAC Publication Prize in Digital Humanities. The prize "will be awarded to two innovative and important projects that display critical and rigorous engagement in the field of Digital Humanities." The submission deadline is March 19, 2012.

The Columbia University Libraries has announced a new program that will award 10 grants of US$2,500 each to researchers who demonstrate compelling needs to consult the libraries' special collections for their work. Successful grantees have to be U.S. citizens. Applications will be accepted through Jan. 31, 2012.
