Studying in the Library – Tips and Tricks

We're here for you during exam season. We have a wide variety of learning spaces, tools, and resources to help you prepare.

Study Spots

It's a busy time of year for the libraries. If you can't find a seat in The D.B. Weldon Library, don't forget to check out our other four locations.

Hours

Starting April 8, Weldon will have extended hours and will be open until 3 a.m. Taylor will also have extended hours until midnight. Be sure to check the hours ahead of time as they vary.

Bookable Spaces

Need space to study? Our bookable group study rooms are for you! You can book rooms two weeks in advance. Book now, they go fast.

Equipment for Loan and Earplugs

Forgot a charger for your laptop, phone, or headphones? Visit the Info Desk at any of our libraries to borrow these items and more. You can also pick up free earplugs.

Etiquette

Exams = high stress. Don't forget to be kind to those around you!

No Seat Saving

Remember our motto: If you move your feet, you lose your seat.

Learning and Food Zones

Everyone learns differently — be sure to study in the zone that suits you best:

  • Conversation friendly: The perfect place to chat and study with friends.
  • Quiet study: A great location for small group studying.
  • Silent: No talking, cell phones set to vibrate — perfect for solo studying.

Need a snack? Visit one of the eateries on campus. Eating is not permitted in the libraries and you will not be permitted to enter with food.

Theft prevention

Don't leave your things unattended!

Free Shuttle Service

The USC is offering students a free and safe ride home. The shuttle will operate April 8-26 from midnight to 3 a.m. All routes begin at Natural Science.
