Subject Headings for brasses alone in ensemble include:

Note: The instrumentation is listed in alphabetical order, NOT in score order, after each Subject Heading.

Subject headings for brasses with other instruments (i.e. mixed ensembles) include:

Exception: Brass instruments with woodwind instruments only are found under the basic headings.

Note: Standard combination for wind quintets: (bassoon, clarinet, flute, horn, oboe), again, the instruments are listed alphabetically.

After each basic Subject Heading (for ensembles of 3+ players) the instruments are organized in the following order:

  • keyboard
  • winds (alphabetically)
  • percussion
  • strings (in score order)
