Open In Action: Open Access Week - October 24-30, 2016

Published on October 24, 2016

Open Access Week, is a global event now in its ninth year. International Open Access Week has always been about action, and this year’s theme encourages all stakeholders to take concrete steps to make their own work more openly available and to encourage others to do the same.

Western Libraries’ support of open access stems from our role in supporting researchers at all levels, through all stages of the research process. We provide support in meeting open access grant requirements, highlighting author rights, finding and selecting open access publishing opportunities, with our Open Access Fund and more. Another library service, Scholarship@Western, provides a publishing platform that can both preserve and showcase publications while helping researchers to meet open access grant requirements.

Western Libraries now supports Cogitatio Press, a publisher of four open access peer-reviewed journals.

· Media and Communication (ISSN: 2183-2439)
· Politics and Governance (ISSN: 2183-2463)
· Social Inclusion (ISSN: 2183-2803)
· Urban Planning (ISSN: 2183-7635)

Our institutional membership enables Western authors to publish in Cogitatio Press journals without having to directly incur any Article Processing Charges (APC).
