Weldon Revitalization on the Horizon

Published on October 26, 2018

The Western Libraries Space Master Plan has gained the support of the university with a $15 million commitment to begin the revitalization of The D.B. Weldon Library.

The Space Master Plan envisions library spaces that:

  • Improve learning and research, enable new modes of scholarship and collaboration, and inspire discovery.
  • Increase access to natural light and improve wayfinding.
  • Create community engagement space to enhance the library's role as the heart of campus.
  • Provide staff work areas that function well, support new technologies, and foster collaboration.

Over the coming year, we'll work with architects Perkins+Will and our community to create more detailed plans. We hope to have shovels in the ground by fall 2019. Learn more about our Space Master Plan and view the complete plan.
