Policy on Promotional Displays and Distribution of Promotional Materials by Campus and External Groups

This policy pertains to:

  • promotional displays
  • posters on bulletin boards
  • information booths
  • announcements on the Western Libraries’ web site

Western Libraries will consider requests for promotional displays from campus groups if the request relates to:

  • USC elections (annual)
  • an exceptional need such as the irregular student surveys held by USC (usually several years between surveys)
  • teaching Award Nominations by USC and SOGS
  • collaborative initiatives with academic or administrative units such as the Teaching Support Centre or the Students Success Centre
  • western’s academic programs
  • libraries and Information Resources and Services in general

Western Libraries will have the discretion to make decisions about such requests on a case-by-case basis and will consider issues such as the physical limitations of the location and the timing/scheduling of Western Libraries’ own promotional initiatives. If a request is approved, staff of Western Libraries will not be required to actively distribute materials.  Requests from external groups may be considered, only in exceptional circumstances, on a case-by-case basis.

To request a promotional display, posters or information booth in a physical location, please contact the appropriate Assistant University Librarian or Library Director:
