Professional Biography

I (she / her) am a Metadata Specialist / Library Assistant, a role I have been in at Western Libraries since September 2015. I am qualified to catalogue materials in all genres and formats collected at Western, but have specific training in music (scores, sound recordings, and video recordings), rare books and scores, and Taylor Library's medical collection (NLM classification and MeSH headings). Prior to my current role, I worked at Taylor Library in user services and serials processing, and at LIRM on a specific rare music cataloguing project (the Dr. James L. and Dr. Margaret Whitby donation).

My current interests include diversity, equity, and inclusion in library metadata; documentation of current and future cataloguing policies and workflows at Western Libraries; preparing for the implementation of the revised RDA standards at Western Libraries; opportunities for collaboration in a shared consortial catalogue; and linked data for libraries utilizing Wikidata and Wikipedia.
