Interlibrary Loan Requests Simplified

Published on November 02, 2022

As of today, all requests for books, chapters, and articles not owned by Western Libraries can be made using your existing Library Account from within our catalogue, Omni.

Starting Nov. 30, the RACER platform will no longer be supported by Western Libraries and you will no longer have access to your RACER account. Any requests in progress at this time will still be fulfilled. If you have important information in My Requests, consider saving your request history by copying and pasting the information to a document on your computer.

Why change?

Eliminating the RACER platform saves you the extra step of logging into RACER and eliminates the need for you to maintain additional login information. With Omni, you can seamlessly search for and request items in one spot.

How do I make a request in Omni?

To request interlibrary loans from Omni:

  1. Login to My Library Account.
  2. Use the search bar to look for items in the catalogue.
  3. If an item is not available in our collection, there will be a "Get it from another library" button in the "How to get it" section of the item record.
  4. Complete the request form and select submit. The system will ensure your request is directed to the library that can fill it the quickest.

Not seeing what you’re looking for? Expand your search results by selecting "Add results beyond Western & Affiliate Libraries collection" using the toggle in the left navigation. If you’re still stuck, use the "Interlibrary Loan" request form located in the top navigation bar to enter your citation information and someone from our team will process your request.
