  1. The Education Library is located in the John George Althouse Faculty of Education building. Click here for a map of Western Libraries. The Education Library is on the botton left corner of the map (you may have to scroll down). The library's distinctive round shape and dome roof makes it easy to spot from outside.
  2. The Education Library has three floors each containing different types of materials. To know what floor the item you are looking for is on, you need to look at the location code (in front of the call number) in the online catalogue. EDUSTK, EDUPER, and EDUOVR materials are in the basement. CRCKIT, CRCCG, and EDUREF materials are on the main floor. CRCTX, CRCFM, and CRCFB are located on the mezzanine.
  3. Generally journals, microfiche and books are in the basement. The main floor has more curriculum oriented materials (teacher's guides, kits, videos, puppets, big books etc.). The mezzanine is where you will find textbooks, French books and curriculum documents. You need to check the location codes to find particular items (see the answer above for the location codes on each floor).
  4. The Education library has one photocopier on the main floor. The copier operates on coins (change available at the circulation desk) or with a Western Library's copy card which is available at the circulation desk for $1. Copies are 15 cents each or 9 cents with a copy card.
  5. When the Education Library is closed library materials may be returned to the drop box located outside the doors facing the rear north parking lot (facing Sarnia Road). This box is locked when the library is open. EDUSTK books may also be returned at any other Western library.
  6. The computers in the Education Library do not have any word processing programs. For Education students there are computer labs available near the library.
  7. Course Reserves are materials that are in heavy demand by students for a particular course. They are given short loan periods to ensure fair access and are placed on reserve upon request of faculty. Two hour reserve materials must be requested from the circulation desk (we keep them on shelves behind the counter).
  8. No, all 2 hour reserve materials must be returned before the library closes each night
  9. Two-day loan materials checked out on a Thursday or Friday are due the following Monday.
  10. From the library catalogue search page you choose "advanced keyword search" and on that page you can choose "videos etc." as the material type. Tip--if you want to, you can limit your search to the education library (or even the Curriculum Resource Collection) just choose one of those options from where it says "View Entire Collection".
  11. To log onto the computers in the Education library you need to use the first part of your UWO email address (e.g. jsmith53) and your UWO email password (e.g.Ce;nF4w+).
