Weldon Revitalization – What’s new in 2021

Published on February 19, 2021

With the New Year underway, we wanted to share with you an update on the Weldon Revitalization Project, as construction has begun on the fifth floor of the library.

Right now, due to construction noise, dust, and on-site work crews, Weldon isn’t an ideal environment for studying or research. To provide safe study space, we’ve reopened Taylor Library for Western students and faculty who are required to be on campus this term.

We’re also developing a website to showcase all of the space changes and additions, furniture improvements, and exciting features of a revitalized Weldon Library. There, you’ll be able to virtually explore elements like the brand new Family Room, connect with us about what you miss about visiting Weldon, and read updates such as how we’re blending Brutalist architecture with new modern finishes. You can also follow us on Twitter and Instagram for news on the renovations.

If you’re interested in sharing your thoughts on furniture for Weldon, you can fill out this brief survey and let us know your preferences and needs for seating, tables, and more.

Thank you for your patience during the renovation. We can’t wait to show you what’s next for Weldon!
