The Allyn and Betty Taylor Library serves the Faculties of Engineering, Science, Health Sciences and the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. The main entrance is through the Natural Sciences building. Feel free to look around as we move through the building.

On the way into Taylor you will pass Einstein’s Café, our food-friendly zone.

The main floor is a conversation friendly zone and great for study groups.

It also has comfortable couches, moveable furniture and power outlets.

As you enter the library, the InfoDesk is on your right. Here you can get help with your library account, get assistance with printing and copying, and borrow adapters and phone chargers.

0:53

Need to check out a book? Our self-serve stations beside the InfoDesk allow you to quickly check out, renew, or return library materials.  You will also find books on Reserve or on hold from other campus libraries.

There are bookable group study rooms with wireless connections to large screens and one room has an electronic white board.

Both Portico areas provide comfortable seating with natural sunlight and a view of Dental Circle.

There are more bookable study rooms here.

2:30

We have quick access computers from which specialty software for certain courses is available. Two PCs are for guests and alumni only and guest access logins are available at the InfoDesk.  We have an AODA Accessible PC with accessibility software.

2:58

From any of these library computers you can print to one of our Print/Copy/Scan machines located in this room.

3:10

The Kellogg/Taylor Instruction room across from the main stairwell is where library staff teach Information Literacy.

3:25

The Community Corner desk can be booked for up to three events at one time. Events can range from student club fund raisers, wellness initiatives, promotion of academic guest speakers, student education and research activities, or fun things like colouring books and taking selfies in a photo booth. Each of the three sections are bookable online by anyone with a Western username.

If your event needs a large space or if the group is from off campus, special arrangements can be made by contacting the Taylor Library. For example, we have hosted therapy dogs and held special events to celebrate International Week with dancing, Chinese calligraphy and Tai Chi performances.

4:20

Here in the stacks you can find all of our print materials.  You’ll need the item’s Call Number to determine the location on one of the 6 floors. Quiet conversation is okay and there are tables for individual study and group work.

Now let’s take the elevator down to the Ground Floor.

5:05

On our Ground Floor, you’ll see the Collaborative Learning Centre, a conversation friendly zone.  There are five media tables with multi view screens that can be booked online.
