Studying in the Library - Tips and Tricks
We're here for you during exam season. We have a wide variety of learning spaces, tools, and resources to help you prepare.
It's a busy time of year for the libraries. If you can't find a seat in The D.B. Weldon Library, don't forget to check out our other five locations.
As of April 8, 2019, some libraries will have extended hours, and Weldon will be open 24/7! Be sure to check the hours ahead of time as they vary.
After 9 p.m., we'll check your bag and your WesternONE card to ensure a safe study environment.
Equipment for Loan and Earplugs
Forgot a charger for your laptop, phone, or headphones? Visit the service desks to borrow these items and more. You can also pick up free earplugs.
Exams = high stress. Don't forget to be kind to those around you!
No Seat Saving
Remember our motto: If you move your feet, you lose your seat.
Learning and Food Zones
Everyone learns differently — be sure to study in the zone that suits you best:
- Conversation friendly: The perfect place to chat and study with friends.
- Quiet study: A great location for small group studying.
- Silent: No talking, cell phones set to vibrate — perfect for solo studying.
Need a snack when you study? Go for it! Just be sure to stick to zones marked food-friendly and report any spills.
Don't leave your things unattended!

The Wellness Education Centre will have a Wellness Station in the Weldon Library atrium. Stop by for a snack and some tips to help you through exam season.
