Medway Creek LIDAR Data
The Medway Creek 2006 Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) data was acquired by the University of Western Ontario for various research projects. It is important to note that the first pulse and last pulse data were both acquired. The first pulse measures the range to the first object encountered, such as tree foliage. The last pulse measures the range to the last object, or the ground. The last pulse data has been processed and mosaicked into a 1 metre pixel resolution bare earth Digital Elevation Model (DEM) in GeoTIFF format. A map has been created to indicate the extent of the coverage area. File size is approximately 660mb.

Restrictions on Access
The processed GeoTIFF file is available to University of Western Ontario students, faculty and staff for academic, research or personal reasons. Patrons will be required to present a valid UWO ID card and sign a release form when requesting the data. Data must be requested in person at the Map and Data Centre Reference desk.
The raw LAS and XYZ lidar data point files for both first and last pulses are available for members of the Department of Geography and other project sponsors, however it is important to note that these files are not processed into a format compatible with ArcGIS and will need to be converted. Like the processed file, patrons will be required to present a valid UWO ID card and sign a release form when requesting the data. Data must be requested in person at the Map and Data Centre Reference desk.
Data Manipulation / Usage
The Map and Data Centre has 2 GIS workstations equipped with ArcGIS 10.0 and other software to explore/manipulate the data. UWO users may also copy requested resources to a data storage device (ex. USB flash drive, CD-R) for research or teaching use outside of the library. The University of Western Ontario must be cited in any maps or graphics generated.
