Library Materials in Storage

Requested items are retrieved from storage and sent to a selected pick-up location within 2 business days.

Monday - Friday: requested items are delivered to The D. B. Weldon Library service desk once each day by 10 AM, and to other Western Libraries locations by 1 PM.

Saturday and Sunday: requests for items in storage are not processed on the weekend. Requests received after noon on Friday are processed on the following Monday morning.

The Archives and Research Collections Centre (ARCC), the Research Depository Library (RDL), and an off-site storage facility house a collection of low to medium use print journals and monographs. These library items were transferred to high density storage from the six Western Libraries locations.

Access to Items in Storage

A valid Western ID is required for this service.

Library materials with the catalogue location code "Storage-Use Request" are requested through an online form in the Shared Library Catalogue.

Library items may not be requested through the Western Archives reading room located in the ARCC. They must be requested through the Shared Library Catalogue.

Electronic Document Delivery

An Electronic Document Delivery (EDD) service option is available for journal articles in storage. The service allows individuals to select journals in the Shared Library Catalogue and request specific articles. Requested articles are scanned and converted to PDF. A link to the article is sent to the requestor along with a password and PIN.
